Industry Information About Virtual Security
Gartner reported in 2007 that virtual machines would be less secure than their physical counter parts and also released the above graphic that shows a new security solution on the rise for virtual environments. From Gartner's perspective there is now a technology trigger that has stimulated vendors like Montego Networks to create "Virtual Security Partitions". Montego Networks helps customers partition virtual machine communication by way of its Virtual Security Switch.
This graphic highlights the fact that security is commonly an after thought when building out new networks. The virtual network falls victom to the same things we've seen with areas of the physical network, and that is an initial abscence of security.
